RENNER BREWING
-- Crystal Ice --

This is a VERY RARE promotional print from the Renner Brewing Company.  From what I can find this is from the late 1800's before they had electric refrigeration.  Although its hard to see in the pictures it says at an angle next to the girl, "Renner Crystal Ice" and in the lower part, on the chair "Both Phone" and I think there is a double digit number.  Never have I seen such a awesome piece of brewing history.

George Renner, Sr. took ownership of a thriving business and immediately began to take steps to expand it even further.  His first investment was in a mechanical ice machine, which produced 45 tons of ice per day for cooling the plants storage cellars. There was enough extra production however, to begin a side business of selling “Renners Crystal Ice” for home use, for which the company purchased several wagons to make deliveries throughout the city of Akron and Youngstown, Ohio.  A second ice machine followed in 1895. By this time, George had joined in the business by his youngest son William, while his daughter Eleanor served as the company secretary and treasurer, and his son in law Ernest C Deibel served as brewmaster and plant manager. Deibel was a Youngstown native, and after marrying Renner's daughter Elizabeth he served at Chicago's famed Walha and Henius brewing Academy.
